Theme and Variations I - Rust

The first theme consists of a flat, rusted piece of metal whose photogram (on film) from 1960 is greatly photographically varied.

The work was inspired by “Bauhaus” artist Kurt Kranz’s (1910-1997) book: Variations on a geometric shape, Prestel-Publishing, Munich 1956. The series was an attempt to reproduce a similar variety and form quality as the designer and painter Kurt Kranz using photo graphics and light graphics. 32 unique photographs emerged as a stringent, self-contained series, in total (including this series) 86 works, mostly B/W, formatted about 30 x 24 cm, in addition to individual B/W and color works as big as 60 x 50 cm.
